Tilma Group director on Australian Regional Tourism Board
The Australian Regional Tourism Network (ARTN) is the peak national body that represents regional tourism practitioners, and supports its members by providing opportunities for collaboration, knowledge sharing and advocacy to promote a successful and sustainable industry.
An initiative of the ARTN, the annual Australian Regional Tourism Convention (ARTC) was held in Port Stephens on the Central Coast from Monday 20 – Thursday 23 October 2014. At this event, Tilmas’ Managing Director, Linda was elected to be the ARTN Treasurer, a role she is very excited about!
In 2014, the conference program offered a range of panel discussions, presentations, breakout sessions, field trips, social functions and, as always plenty of networking opportunities for the 100 odd delegates, presenters and VIPs to enjoy.
Director, Lisa describes her key learning to have come from a workshop on Business Events, a case study of the Margaret River Region and from Wednesdays’ Central Coast famil. Not only did the visit to Wyong Milk Factory demonstrate the importance of clustering tourism product and experiences, it also provided opportunities for delegates to sample award winning local cheeses and the tasty treats at the chocolate factory (yummo)!
To experience the thrills of Tree Top Adventure Park, and to hear from Master Chefs Julie Goodwin was terrific however equally as opportune was the engaging conversation undertaken amongst conference delegates including this years inspiring Young Tourism Professionals (YTP). Tilma would like to extend a special congratulations to Anna Del Rio of South Australia who took out the 2014 YTP title at the GALA Dinner in Fingal Heads.
The next ARTC Convention will take place in Victor Harbour on the Fleurieu Peninsula (South Australia), in October 2015. For more information on the ARTN, membership opportunities or the conference, please visit www.regionaltourism.com.au
